Draft. This has not been reviewed by a lawyer and should be before the site takes registrations.

The short version

If you browse, we collect nothing about you personally. If you make an account, we keep the minimum needed to run one. There is no advertising network, no analytics vendor, and nothing is sold or shared.

If you only read

No account, no tracking. Your colour-scheme choice is stored in your own browser and never sent to us. Our server keeps ordinary web logs — address, page, timestamp — which are used to keep the site running and are not linked to any person.

If you have an account

  • Your username, which is public.
  • Your email address, which is not public. Used for sign-in and account recovery.
  • A session cookie, so you stay signed in.
  • Anything you submit to the Committee: proposals, votes, and comments.

Committee contributions are public and attributed

Votes carry your name on purpose. Attribution is most of what makes a committee a committee rather than a poll — you are putting your name behind a claim about the historical record. If you would rather not be seen doing that, do not vote.

Deleting your account

Ask and we will delete it, along with your email address and session data. Two honest caveats:

  • Corrections that were approved and applied stay in the archive. They are now part of the record, and unpicking them would corrupt data other people rely on. Your name is removed from them.
  • Comments threaded into other members’ discussions are anonymised rather than removed, so the conversation still makes sense to the people who took part in it.

Third parties

Cloudflare sits in front of this site and sees traffic in order to serve it. Recordings are hosted elsewhere and linking out to them means that host sees the request. We do not embed advertising or analytics scripts.
